What to expect
How the Signing Event Works
This isn't a seminar. It isn't a sales pitch. It's a curated in-person experience designed to be as easy — and as meaningful — as possible.
Step One
Submit Your Request
Fill out the short form below. A member of our legal team will contact you personally to gather information, collect payment, and schedule you for the signing event that works best for your family.
Step Two
Arrive & Enjoy
Walk in on your scheduled date to complimentary beverages and pastries. Relax while our team finalizes the last details of your package.
Step Three
Meet the Attorney & Sign
Your senior sits down with our licensed attorney, reviews every document, asks any questions, and signs — with a notary present.
Step Four
Receive Your Gift & Leave Protected
Your graduate receives a special graduation gift, then walks out with a complete, notarized legal package in hand — everything ready before move-in day.
What's included
Four Documents. Complete Protection.
All four are prepared in advance by the Law Office of Dana Baker and signed at the event. Your family leaves with every document notarized and ready.
Healthcare Power of Attorney
Authorizes you to make medical decisions on your graduate's behalf if they are unable to do so. Without it, hospitals cannot share information or accept your direction — even in an emergency.
Durable Financial Power of Attorney
Allows you to manage finances, co-sign leases, handle banking, and assist with legal matters if your graduate needs support — whether expected or not.
HIPAA Authorization
Permits designated family members to receive and discuss medical information with providers and insurance companies — essential for routine care and emergencies alike.
Basic Living Will / Advance Directive
Documents your graduate's wishes regarding end-of-life medical care, giving everyone — providers and family — clear guidance when it matters most.
“She had been in a car accident her first month at college. She was unconscious. And the hospital couldn’t tell me anything — because she was 18.”
Why we created this event
A client called us from a hospital waiting room. Her daughter had been in an accident. She had to beg to be let in. The hospital had no record of a Healthcare Power of Attorney — because no one had thought to set one up.
That call changed how we think about our work. We designed the Graduate Preparedness Package so that no family ever has to sit in that waiting room without answers.
And we created the Signing Event so the experience of getting protected feels like the milestone it is — not a chore.
